You've got to like The Me Poem by Max from Stratford St Mary Primary. It's exactly that, completely Max, a boy poem. It's a modern childhood, so it's got computer games in it. But it's got attitude and it's in his own style and layout. I love the way it snakes over the page (he deliberately set it out like this with no guidance from anyone) and those slashes instead of commas. It suits the poem. It makes the poem! I think he's a boy who does know what he's doing. That's just what he does.
THE ME POEM
When I go to the busy street I see
the Co-op / the Hairdressers / the Bakery /
the Chinese and Indian
That’s what I see.
When I go on the X-box I play
Minecraft / Terraria / Rally / Need for Speed
Lego Batman and Doodle Jump
That’s what I play.
When I watch Youtube I watch
Stampy/ Squid / Vsauce / Gym / Hero and
Dan Tam.
That’s what I watch.
When I go to school this is what I do
annoy teachers / go out to play / thrash
James at football and never know what
I’m doing.
That’s what I do.
Max (age 10), Stratford St Mary Primary
